Terms and Conditions
Location of Sessions
Assessments will generally be offered in your home for pre-school children and in school for school-aged children. Treatment sessions may be provided in your home or nursery/school depending on what is best for your child.
For sessions carried out in your home we will need a quiet environment without distractions. You are an essential part of your child's therapy and are encouraged to stay with your child during the appointments, unless you feel there would be a benefit for us carrying out part of the session 1:1. School visits will require a quiet room.
Fees
Session fees include time working directly with you and your child, writing up case notes, time spent planning sessions, preparation of resources, materials, emails and brief telephone calls. Telephone calls longer than 15 minutes will be charged for (see Fees page). Travel within TN18 and up to 15 minutes from TN18 is included in the session fee. Travel beyond this area is charged at £5 per additional 15 minutes each way per visit.
I will send an invoice after the initial assessment, and if I see you child for ongoing appointments, I then invoice monthly, or per half term- this will be agreed beforehand. If you prefer an alternative plan, we can discuss it before the appointment block starts. If payment is not received by the date specified on the invoice I may suspend sessions until the payment is received
Cancellation Policy
Please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel a session.
If your child becomes ill on the day and you cancel by 8.30am on the day of the appointment, no charge will be made.
If your child is seen in school, it is your responsibility (not the school's) to inform me with at least 48 hours notice that your child will be absent or not available and will not require the visit. Examples include a school trip, appointment out of school, holiday).
Any failed appointments for which notice of cancellation is not given within the stated timescale will be charged at the full rate.
If I am unwell or unable to attend a session I will offer a replacement one as soon as possible.
If you choose to withdraw your child from therapy a week’s notice is required.
Parents Role
I usually provide activities to be carried out at home between therapy sessions. In order for your child to gain maximum benefit from the therapy it is important that these are practiced regularly.
Liaison with other professionals
It is in your child’s best interests that I liaise with any other professionals involved where relevant. Therefore, I may discuss with you copying a report or targets to others involved.
Clients that are currently receiving speech and language therapy from an NHS speech and language therapist or are on an NHS waiting list should inform the Independent speech and language therapist. The NHS speech and language therapist should also be informed of any Independent therapist involvement to ensure effective treatment. It is beneficial for your child, if more than one Speech and Language Therapist is involved, for them to work collaboratively and share information. It is particularly important that you let me know whether your child has been assessed by another Speech and Language Therapist within the past 6 months so that assessments are not duplicated as this can invalidate the results.
Safeguarding
I have a DBS certificate and renew it yearly.
In the event of a safeguarding concern, where your child or another person is at risk of harm, I have a legal obligation to share that information with relevant professionals in line with the Safeguarding Children's Act 2004.
I undertake yearly Safeguarding training.
Parents will be required to sign the initial information form confirming they have read and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
If you have any queries regarding any part of the Terms and Conditions, please let me know.
